Summary:
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an autonomous and heritage institution has always supported the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan/ Self-reliant India campaign which is the vision of new India envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. P.G. Department of Physics is inculcating innovative minds among its students and is then translating innovations to prototypes. Recently with the objective of stressing the need of startup, P.G. Department of Physics in collaboration with KMV’s Innovation Council (KMV IIC) has organized an expert talk on “ En-route to lean startup through innovations” on August 26, 2022. Dr. Kuldeep Singh Nagla (Associate Professor at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar) was invited as a resource person for the event. The event was attended by 115 participants including faculty members and students of 5 mentee institutions namely Govt. College, Ropar, Guru Hargobind Institute of Law for Women, Ludhiana , J.C. DAV College, Dasuya , IITM School of Art Science and Commerce, Murthal, Laxmi Narayan College of Technology Excellence, Bhopal. In his talk, Dr. Nagla addressed participants on the topic of “Introduction to IPR: Focused on Patents, Designs and copyrights”. Dr. Nagla motivated students as well as faculty to come up with innovative projects and have a startup to support society as well as nation. Dr. Nagla also guided students about various government bodies like Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), DST, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar for financial assistance. For motivating students for startup Dr. Nagla included various examples like Swiggy, Cred, Uber, Whatsapp, SpaceX etc. in his presentation. Further Dr. Nagla elaborated the concept of Intellectual Property Rights and its need. Further he discussed patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial design etc. Presentation of Dr. Nagla was very motivating and impressive. Students asked various questions related to IPR, startups from the resource person.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded efforts of P.G. Department of Physics for organizing this expert talk. She added that today innovation is the need of hour and our curriculum should focus on innovations and entrepreneurship.
